A well-decorated Bavarian Feldwebel with his family, photographed in September 1916. At the time he was promoted to an officer’s position (Offizierstellvertreter). He wore the wartime awarded Bavarian Military Merit Cross with swords (class unknown) and a 1914 Iron Cross 2nd class in his second buttonhole. His medal bar featured a Military Merit Cross 1st class awarded between 1905 to 1913, a silver grade Prince Regent Luitpold Medal and a Bavarian 15 Years Long Service Cross.
