Tank Corps Xmas card

A seasonal Xmas card sent by Pte William Joseph Downsworth to his wife. He originally started as 13th Cavalry but switched to Machine guns & eventually the newly formed Tank Corps by the time he was sent to France. He had a troubled service, was court-martialled 3 times for desertion in the Uk & was forced to forfeit his medals in 1921.

Court-martial: 

30/07/1915 Desertion.Colchester. Guilty of absence and given 28 days detention. (as 13th Cav)

12/08/1920 was for absence, Bovington. 35 days (TC)

01/03/1921, Bovington. Desertion 121 days. (TC)

Discharged on 27/04/1921 for misconduct

Medals forfeited: 02/05/1921

Died in Hull in 1926, aged 31.
