GATHELIER Emile, Captain (here Lieutenant):
Born on December 22, 1885 in Paris, he obtained his university degree as a veterinary doctor from the Faculty of Lyon on July 15, 1909.
Enlisted as a volunteer for 3 years on October 4, 1906 in Dijon in the 30th RA, 2nd gunner driver.
Successive assignments:
Designated to perform veterinary duties on August 7, 1916 as aide major to the Serbian Army.
Appointed aide major 2nd class on August 14, 1916.
Promoted to veterinary assistant major 1st class on August 14, 1918.
Assistant major veterinarian 1st class on March 1, 1919.
Campaign for the armies from August 3, 1914 to January 14, 1916.
Interior from January 16 to August 28, 1916.
Armies of the Orient from August 29, 1916 to July 21, 1917.
Orient Hospital from July 22 to December 21, 1917. Interior from December 22, 1917 to May 11, 1918.
To the armies from May 12, 1918 to March 12, 1919.
Successive assignment:
Recalled to activity and arrived at the depot on September 2, 1939, assigned to the General Staff.
Veterinarian reserve lieutenant. Promoted to Captain (in May 1940?) and director of the Mâcon horse racing establishment.
Taken prisoner in Roanne on June 19, 1940.
Died April 28, 1950.
Decorations:
His son, GATHELIER Pierre André (1919-2007), is also a Knight of the Legion of Honor as a deported resistance fighter and member of the FFI.
