"Mâcon, February 5th
Dear Mother
I received your package, which made me happy since we're not allowed to go out. It did me good. I'm sending you my photo.
You asked me who Foug's friends are. There's Muller from the soap farm, Mathieu, and Saiyer.
Good morning everyone.

Transferred on April 1, 1915, to the 408th Infantry Regiment, he was wounded on March 9, 1916, during the counterattack at Vaux (Verdun) by a shell fragment to his right elbow.
During the war, he served with the 35th Infantry Regiment, 57th Infantry Division of the Orient, 244th Infantry Regiment, 371st Infantry Regiment, Marching Battalion, 57th Infantry Division, 121st Infantry Regiment, and then the 169th Infantry Regiment.
He was hospitalized for malaria contracted on the Eastern Front.
We can also mention the presence of a soldier from the 23rd RI of Bourg-en-Bresse (next to the bugle).
